At their end-of-the-year banquet, the SM East theatre department announced their three main stage shows for the 2014-2015 season. Instead of the typical format of two plays and one musical, the program will be putting on two musicals and one set of sketch plays. The fall musical will be “Little Shop of Horrors” and the winter musical will be “The 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee. “Little Shop of Horrors” is a comedy that follows the story of Seymour and his girlfriend Audrey as they accidentally take care of a plant that is actually an evil alien. “The 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee” is a Tony award winning one-act centered on a fictional spelling bee in Putnam County. The sketches, meanwhile, will be famous TV episodes adapted to the stage.
