SMSD Students Re-Elect Obama in Mock Election

It was a good year for the incumbents in the 2012 mock election held throughout the Shawnee Mission School District.

Democratic President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden defeated Republican candidates Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan handily, getting 59.86 percent of the vote over Romney’s 35.57 percent. Third party candidates Gary Johnson and Chuck Baldwin earned 3.11 percent and 1.44 percent respectively. Incumbent Kevin Yoder won the 3rd Congressional District race in Kansas over Libertarian candidate Joel Balam with 66.12 percent of the vote. At SM East, President Obama collected 419 votes to Romney’s 318. Only two schools in the district elected Romney for president: Corinth Elementary and Ray Marsh Elementary.
