Progress in Village Shopping Center Continues

The last few months have seen a number of changes in the Village Shopping center, and more will take place as the year goes on.

The new building that is currently being built in the Village Shopping Center is expected to be finished soon, with a new Starbucks planned to open inside it around April. Einstein Bros plan to take over the space that is currently Starbucks , as well as what used to be Dolce bakery next door.

This month, C. Jack’s Sidewalk Café is moving away from the Village Shops and rebranding as C. Jack’s Quiche in a new spot on Johnson Drive, opposite Shawnee City Hall. It will be sharing its new space with a cake stylist shop called Iced Art. The signature quiche will still be available at Twisted Sisters Coffee Shop on Johnson Drive and Hatties Fine Coffee on Corinth Square, as well as from the Village’s Hen House.

The space vacated a year ago by Mady and Me’s Children’s Boutique will soon be replaced by Pinot’s Palette, an art space with over 50 franchises nationwide. Pinot’s Palette provides community art classes as well as space for private events in which guests can enjoy their own wine whilst being guided through an art project.

The end of 2013 has been exciting for the Quillec family, owners of Café Provence. Not only was the Café named as one of Opentable’s “Top 100 Restaurants” for the second year in a row, alongside famous eateries from all across the country, but the family has also opened a new store in Village Shops. Named ‘French Market’, the shop will sell linen, furniture and gifts directly imported from France. In addition to that, the shop will also have take-home versions of some of Café Provence’s most popular foods, including soup and salad dressings.

“The customers kind of inspired us to do this,” chef Phillip Quillec told the Prairie Village Post. “We have people asking if they can take home our sauces and dressings all the time.”

The plans for expansion of the Village’s Hen House have been put on hold for the time being but may be rediscussed in the near future.
