Environmental Education Hosts Animal Tours

SM East Environmental Education classes are preparing to give SMSD elementary area students tours of the Environmental Education rooms and lessons about their animals. Students in Environmental Education have been placed in groups by their teachers that will focus on specific types of animals to help educate the students on their traits and patterns.

“We have been practicing and preparing for almost a week now,” junior Sydney Shearer said. “We pair up with the other class that has our same hour and see how we can relate the facts about the animals so the kids will understand.”

The groups practice by interacting and speaking about the animals they will be presenting.

“We practice every day by getting the animals out and playing with them so they are used to us by the time the kids come on Tuesday”, Shearer said.

The first day of tours is January 21. Students will continue to come every Tuesday of the month.
