My Life with Tics: A Video Game about Tourettes

While looking around Google for other blogs and websites about Tourettes Syndrome, I found an online game that teaches people about what it’s like to have Tourettes. Basically you’re a warrior who goes around a castle, killing monsters and trying to find the exit. But there’s a catch: you have Tourettes. Your tics, which come in different forms such as blinking, coughing, leg twitches and hand twitches, begin to stress you out. If you become too stressed, you lose sleep. If you lose too much sleep, you lose health. And if you lose all of your health, you lose the game. I played a couple of rounds of the game, and found it to be surprisingly relatable to Tourettes. I don’t have all the tics shown in the game, but I do have a couple of them.

I think it’s great for showing people how Tourettes feels. Whenever the little warrior (also known as Lync) has a blinking tic, the screen goes black for a couple seconds. Whenever Lync has a leg twitch, he moves a to the left or right a little bit. Whenever he coughs, it alerts the monsters to come after him. Does that sound like Tourettes or what?

The game is totally free to play!

Son of Christ. Family Man. Geek. These three phrases are my priorities in life. I'm just your everyday kid who happens to have Tourettes Syndrome. I've got the best friends and family anyone could ask for. I've been blessed with a mind wired for technology. I'm a Apple, Google, and Android fan (in that order). I enjoy sharing my opinion, and I usually don't care what people think of me for doing so. I plan on going to K-State next year to major in Journalism.
