Lancers Look to Recover from Loss to SM West

The Lancer football team will be facing off against the Shawnee Mission North Indians this week. The Lancers are currently 6-2 and North is 0-8. According to the Kansas State High School Activities Association, East is already guaranteed to advance to the playoffs.

In recent games, East has struggled with passing. According to senior quarterback Jordan Darling, this is because of unnecessary drops and bad reads. He says they will be looking to establish a run early and see where things go from there. Head coach Chip Sherman says they will continue to rely on the three strong running backs they have used all year.

The Lancers are looking to bounce back after a 31-14 loss to SM West last week.

“The team knows how to come back from a loss,” Sherman said. “We have to continue to work hard.”

With North’s season-long losing streak, the Lancers feel confident going into the game. However, according to Darling, they are not going to overlook them.

“Obviously North isn’t the greatest football team,” he said. “But they’re still a football team. There’s a lot of upsets, especially late in the season. So we gotta make sure we get things done this week.”

If you can’t make it to the game, tune in at 7 p.m. to catch the action live.
