Formed in a suburban basement, Menlo draws its inspiration from all corners of American life. The band features frontman Adam Levin, inspired by the Allman Brothers Band, reggae and funk music, and the jazz greats of old, percussionist David Beeder, a candid and lanky giant, and Tim Shedor, the bass man who enjoys filling the holes between the two. The trio can only offer these two very rough demo tracks, but they promise more to come, including at least one cover of a Chili’s classic and a reggae-pop burst. As for the name, they bet you won’t recognize the allusion, but they challenge you to Google “Menlo” and illuminate your self. It’s guaranteed to be a “lightbulb moment.” Thanks to Max McFarland for producing the demo and the photos of our recording session.
