Gallery: Varsity Football Defeats Topeka Seaman 35-7 on Lancer Day

On Lancer Day, the first home game was played at Shawnee Mission South on Sep. 13 against Topeka Seaman High School. The student section was packed shoulder-to-shoulder, and every student in the crowd was decked out in their Lancer blue gear,with some wearing the new Lancer Day jerseys sold by the student store. After East’s loss to Lawrence Free State last week, the team was heading into the game 0-1. The game began with East winning the coin toss and deferring possession until the second half. On their first drive Topeka Seaman scored their first and only touchdown. Not long after that East scored their first rushing touchdown by junior Jack Reeves. Also in the first half East had their first and only fumble of the game. The game concluded with five rushing touchdowns for East, three of those being scored by Junior Jack Reeves, two being scored by senior Nate Phillips and kicker Calvin Duske making all of five of the extra points leading to East defeating Topeka Seaman 35-7.

The Lancers’ next home game is the Homecoming Game on Friday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. at Shawnee Mission South, against SM South.
