The first pep assembly rang with excitement from the freshmen to the senior stands. The main gym was filled with new chants from senior yell leaders, performances by drill team and cheerleading, class and sport competitions, and announcements from SHARE, fall sports and a few clubs.
The senior yell leaders came up with new chants including ‘If you’re a Lancer’, ‘Get Outta your Mind’, ‘Yeah-yeah Lancers’, ‘SME Let’s Go’ and ‘East-lantic.’
“There are going to be more [chants] along the season,” senior Brayten Bowers said. “You’ll just have to wait.” Students should expect to perform both old classics and new chants to help pump up the athletes at upcoming football and soccer games.
This year SHARE celebrates their 30th birthday, striving to continue the legacy of giving East students opportunities to serve the community. Click the following link to sign up for SHARE project: SHARE Signup Genius
Junior Board is a student-led group that will be starting its second year in existence at East. Last year’s members raised $6,000 for local non-for-profit organizations. The grants were handed out at the assembly to the DeLaSalle Education Center, Green Works, Morning Glory Ministries, and Safe Home.
