Recycling Club

Who:

Any students who are environmentalists or enjoy working to improve the environment should come to the next Recycling Club meeting and check out ways to protect our Earth.

What:

Every seminar, the Recycling Club meets to collect the whole school’s recycling from the specified bins in each classroom. Members go from room to room emptying their respective recycling containers. After they collect the mounds of paper and plastic that would otherwise be thrown in the trash, they sort it into two separate piles. After separation, they dump the piles into the larger recycling bins located in the junior and senior parking lots.

 

Gaming Club

Who:

This club is open to anyone and everyone that enjoys a good board game.

Leader:

Juniors Jacob Yedo and Sam Stevens

When:

Every Tuesday night, from 3 p.m. until the members have to leave

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

Who:

Students (athletes or not) who enjoy relaxing with fellow students and listening to speakers recount stories of their faith can come to celebrate and grow in their own faith.

Wednesdays at 7 a.m.

Where:

Auxiliary Gym

What:

FCA members set up a table to hold the vast amounts of breakfast food, typically brought to the meeting by an appointed person or persons. At around 7:15 a.m. the crowd takes their seats against the wall and prepares to hear a speech from one of the leaders or a guest speaker. They usually speak from personal experience and bring their religious beliefs into the lesson at hand. At the end of the motivational speeches, everyone is given the opportunity to chat for a couple of minutes with fellow students before heading to class.

 

International Club

Who:

International club is for all students who like to discuss and are interested in international cultures and societies and seeing the world through a different perspective.

What:

Once a month, the International Club meets to learn about other cultures and eat double chocolate brownies homemade by social studies teacher Brenda Fishman. Each meeting, the members listen to a presentation made by someone in the group about a country they have visited or have lived for any period of time. Besides discussing other cultures, the club has seasonal nighttime gatherings, and as a special treat, sells live Maine lobsters each May.
