Junior Lauren Packer has been selected as the 2017-2018 cheer co-captain. She will be working with the other captain Anna McClelland.

Q. What are the responsibilities of a cheer captain?

A. I help with any questions or concerns the girls may have. Anna McClelland and I will call chants and try to create new, fun things throughout the year. We both want to do more little spirit-type things. We want to do more walking through the halls, more crowd involvement, work with the drill team more, and we want to get the student section more involved in the games basically.

Q. How did you receive this position?

A. I filled out an application basically just saying why I would be best for the position, and then the varsity squad all voted. I think being nice and helpful these past couple of years has played a huge role.

Q. What is your cheerleading experience?

A. I started on JV my sophomore year because I didn’t try out my freshman year, and next year will be my second year on varsity.

Q. What is your favorite cheer memory?

A. My favorite memories are the big games. The Rockhurst football game is my favorite event to cheer for. I also absolutely love Lancer Day.

Q. What are your goals for the upcoming season?

A. Next year my goal is that all of the cheerleaders feel comfortable coming to me with anything so that we can create a strong, happy squad.

Q. What are you most excited for in the upcoming season?

A. I am most excited to get to know the girls and create a stronger and closer team. I can’t wait to get a new competition routine, so we can go back to competitions this fall. I’m also pumped for Lancer Day, the best day of the year!

Q. What other activities are you involved in?

A. I am also involved in DECA, SHARE and hopefully link crew.
