Q: How did you get involved in gymnastics?

A: Ten years ago, I was taking a ballet class, and I ended up liking the tumbling part of that a lot. My mom put me in gymnastics after that.

Q: What is your favorite part of being a gymnast?

A: I think my favorite part of gymnastics is being able to tell and show people all of the cool flips and stunts I can do.

Q: How did the East team do this year compared to in the past?

A: This year, we had more injuries than normal. That really affected our team score. Some of our best gymnasts were injured, but we still did well in the end. Two out of eight of our gymnasts were injured, which is really devastating.

Q: How did you get injured?

A: I was doing a stunt on the bar, and I hit my foot on the ground really hard. My foot immediately fractured.

Q: How was the team affected without you able to participate?

A: I think missing that extra score lowered our team scores overall during the earlier meets, but we still ended up making it to 6th place at state as a team. Only the top eight teams make it to state.

Q: Did your injury set you back at state?

A: I might have been doing harder skills if I had more time to practice them, but I am still really happy with how I did.

Q: What do you specialize in?

A: I participate in all of the events, but my best is the vault. I don’t really know why I like it so much, but it’s just super fun.
