East Alumn Wins NCAA II National Championship

2009 East graduate, Matt Baker, won Maryville wrestling’s first NCAA Division II national wrestling title in Birmingham, Alabama. Baker finished his Senior year as the No. 1 ranked wrestler in the country in the 197 lbs weight class.

The boys’ basketball team fell short of their dreams of a state title in what was a historic season, placing fourth in 6A and ending the season with an impressive 21-4 record.

Lancers Face Wichita East in First State Game

After a long regular season the 20-2 Lancer Boy’s basketball team has made it to the first round of the state playoffs in Koch Arena at Wichita State University. There they will face the 15-7 Wichita East Blue Aces. The winner of this quarterfinal matchup will meet the winner between second seeded Wichita North and seventh seed Lawrence Free State.
