The girls’ gymnastics team competed in state at Olathe North over the weekend. Although the team did not place, senior Madi Lage placed individually on the vault.

The girls’ gymnastics team competed in an all around meet at SM South on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Each competitor was scored separately instead as team. Senior Madi Lage was the only East gymnast that placed. Lage received sixth on vault and sixth on bars.
Seniors Taylor Bell, Sarah Gillaspie and Madi Lage all do gymnastics. They started out at the same club, and all went to the same high school. Through gymnastics, they have grown much closer as friends.
Senior Jasmine Deng grew up training to be a gymnast. After breaking every bone in her left foot, she had to find a new passion. She finally came across diving, which is what she pursues today.
Cross Country The cross country team participated in the Baldwin Invitational held at the Baldwin Golf Course this past weekend. The Boys’ Varsity placed fifth as well as Girls’ Varsity. The girls’ gymnastics team has selected their team and started training for the fall season. The team is practicing with Shawnee Mission North but practices will be held at East.
