Lancer athletics had an exciting week between a victory over Olathe North and a strong team showing at the Topeka West Invitational.

Last night, the Lancers defeated Olathe North for the first time since 1985, in a lopsided 30-7 game. The boys’ soccer team also won 3-0, earning a spot in the finals of the KAMO Varsity soccer tournament. The boys’ will play Blue Valley North, this Saturday, 2:30 at Blue Valley District Athletic Complex.

The boys’ soccer team had their annual Black and Blue scrimmage to kick off the season, putting on a good show with a 5-1 win over JV. Football kicks off Friday against SM South. The cross country team also had trials and will be looking for underclassmen to fill the shoes of a large class of seniors that graduated in the Spring.

With the blue and black scrimmage set for 6:30 tonight, here’s a look at the 2012 Lancers. Coach Chip Sherman’s first four-year class heads into their senior season with high expectations, due in large part to highly-touted senior transfer Jordan Darling. Darling, a four-star recruit from Texas, is the highest rated football prospect East has ever had and has already committed to play quarterback for KU next year. His addition has made the Lancers a dark horse competitor for state.
