Boys’ Tennis Wins Second Place at Regionals

The boys’ tennis team competed at the regional qualifier for the state tournament this afternoon. Both of the Lancers’ singles players and one of their doubles teams finished in the top 6 and qualified to compete at the state tournament next weekend.

Billy Louiselle finished second in singles, Quin Napier finished sixth in singles and Matt Schuetz/ Cem Spicer finished 3rd in doubles.

The team as a whole finished as the runner-up in the Shawnee Mission West region, the first place team was Blue Valley Northwest. According to head coach Andy Gibbs, this regional had three of the top five teams in the state competing.

Jet Semrick is a junior at Shawnee Mission East and is currently in his third year on Harbinger as the Online Sports Editor. Outside of journalism, Jet is an avid debater on the Kansas and national circuit. Jet is also involved in forensics, student council, cross country, tennis and enjoys volunteering.
