The Harbinger is the exclusive student-run news program for Shawnee Mission East High School in Prairie Village, KS. Staffed by approximately 60 dedicated super-students and overseen by adviser C. Dow Tate, the print and online publications have won numerous national awards. The Harbinger is published in print every two weeks and its website edition is updated daily. The website edition includes blogs, live video, photo galleries and stories not published in the print edition of the paper. Last year saw the launching of a website run by the student photographers of the newspaper and the yearbook staffs. Republican Presidential Caucus Held at East

The Johnson County Republican Party held a caucus at Shawnee Mission East for voters to hear talks given by spokespeople for the Republican candidates and vote for who they want to run. The caucus was held in place of a state primary which was cancelled due to lack of funding from the state legislature.
