Anthro Obsession

I was seven, and I was shopping on the Plaza when I stopped dead in my tracks. Right in front of me was a store that intrigued me. The windows housed an intense story of color and art that baffled my young mind. I wanted to go in immediately, and soon I learned that this was Anthropologie. Now all grown up, Anthropologie is my favorite store. While the window displays are still fun and artful, they are definitely not the only thing that attracts me. They sell items from small business like stationary from Rifle Paper Co., yet stock popular products from major brands like New Balance sneakers for their activewear section. I love the store for many reasons, so here’s five why you, too, should love Anthropologie.

1. They have everything

Many times, when I have been struggling for a gift idea, walking into the store, I immediately see 10 things my friend would like. There’s photo inspiration books for photog friends, cute silverware and bowls for the cook and clothes for the fashionista. With plenty of variety it’s the perfect place to run-in, grab something and leave pleased with your purchase.

2. It’s conveniently located
I live north of East, so its location on the Plaza is perfect. However, for those that live on the south side of East, have no fear. There’s another Anthropologie in Town Center. So wherever you live, you are always able to zip over to Anthro for whatever you need.

3. They are easily accessed
With Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Pinterest accounts it’s not hard to find their products. Not to mention, their website is chock-full with tons of their products. As someone who’s not incredibly fashion forward, I sometimes don’t know how to wear a certain shoe or shirt. Their daily photos on Instagram give me inspiration on how to style some of their clothing I have trouble with. I’m sure I’m not the only one in need of some fashion advice, so their many social media outlets make it easy for anyone to get inspired.

4. The website is out of this world
With hundreds of products online, I could spend hours looking at everything. With WPA and other events coming up soon, I’ll spend free class time scrolling through all their dresses. Even if you’re not going to a fancy event soon, looking at jewelry, accessories and clothes can be a nice way to spend extra time.

5. They appeal to a wide range of people
While I probably won’t see my grandma wearing one of their dresses anytime soon, I’m not afraid to give her a bowl, some lotion or some jewelry. And my little sister can amuse herself looking at the books. Not to mention, the young women the store is mainly aimed at can shop until they drop here. While some of the products might appeal to older women, there is still a young vibe that any teen can enjoy. Whoever you are shopping for, whether your mom or grandma, you are still bound to find something at Anthropologie.

As much as I love Anthropologie, it can be expensive at times. The quality makes up for the price though. The clothes don’t fall apart after one wear, the bowls don’t chip immediately, and the jewelry is not going to give you a bizarre infection. The quality balances out the price usually, but I’ll admit it, I can’t afford everything. Even with its cons, Anthropologie is still my favorite store, and it will be for a long time to come.
