Wrestling Preview: Gardner-Edgerton Tournament

The Lancer wrestling team will participate in a tournament in Gardner-Edgerton High School this Saturday, Dec. 7 against multiple schools from across the midwest.

“It’s one of our tougher tournaments,” junior Marshall Green said. “But it’s good for us because it’s good competition.”

According to Green, this tournament has a solid varsity lineup consisting of himself, seniors Grant Hollingsworth and Chris Rodriguez, junior Zach Rome and sophomore Jack Carter.
However, wrestlers that played football this fall with not participate in the tournament, because they have not had adequate practice time.

“We are expecting the guys that are wrestling to do well individually,” Green said. “But as a team it’s pretty tough to win team points when you don’t have a full lineup.”

Green says the team has been working hard to prepare for their first tournament.

“We’ve been trying to get all our moves down well before the season starts,” Green said. “[We] want to know what we’re doing so we’re ready to go.”
